Flowers & Herbs Diagram Quiz + Matching Game

Overview

Audience: Beginner herbalism & biology learners

Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning development, Graphic Design, Prototyping

Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator

This project is an introductory lesson into herbalism. The module helps learners to master identifying parts of a flower as well as recognize ten types of flowers and herbs.

Design

The learner is immediately presented with two optional learning experiences which can be revisited at any given time.

Flower & Herbs Matching Game: The matching game provides a visual introduction to various flower and herb names and imagery. The learner has 60 seconds to find ten sets of herbs and flowers. During the game, the user can also monitor how many flips are used to find the sets. This learning experience uses a combination of several variables, states, triggers, and layers.

Flower Diagram Quiz: The learner has the opportunity to assess their knowledge with some trial and error. A link to a study guide in the upper right hand corner is available for learners who feel they need more review before trying to identify parts of a flower. The user can identify flower parts in any order and appropriate labels appear after correct identification. This learning experience uses variables and several button states (rather than layers) due to the complexity of information that must be represented.
